Foundation and History
Situated in the heart of Normandy, in the region "Calvados" there is a magnificent manor surrounded by about 100 acres of charming landscape which was established by Baron Gérard in the 18th century.
A little forest "separates" the property in two parts called 'Gruchy' and 'Cléronde', last is named like the water basin in front of the manor which is reflecting the building.
During the year of 1938 the Comte Joseph de Lastours created the stud for breeding race horses. The pasture, naturally rich and palatable, was perfect for his plans. |
Since many decades there are multiple champion race horses which were raised up and grown up on this land. The proof for one of the best pastures in the country.
The geographical situation is likely central and most of all important sire stations are in the near surroundings.
